Aquarius - Pisces Love Compatibility

Although in many ways it may seem that couples born under consecutive Star Signs, like Aquarius and Pisces, have nothing in common, because there’s a greater than average probability that they will share Mercury and/or Venus signs, they often have more similarities, and thus a higher level of love compatibility, than one might expect.

For sure, there are some big differences between Aquarius and Pisces due to the conflicting Air-Water combination – the former being ruled by its head and basically quite rational and detached, while the latter is ruled more by its heart and tends to be much more sensitive.

Nevertheless – probably because they're next-door neighbors in the Zodiac – consecutive Star Signs such as Aquarius and Pisces are traditionally considered to have quite a good level of love compatibility and a reasonable chance of understanding each other and getting on.

There’s a surprising ability to tolerate each other’s contrasting way of going about things, and they can generally relate to one another’s weak points, which each can help the other to overcome. Cool and collected Aquarius delights in unravelling spacey Pisces' muddle-headedness and offering a logical solution to its problems. In turn, the visionary Fish is a great muse for the inventive Aquarian, encouraging it to come up with clever new ideas by sparking off its intuition.

In a live-in relationship, however, Pisces' frequent emotional ups and downs don't always sit comfortably with Aquarius's impersonal approach and dislike of having to get into anything too 'heavy'. The Fish's evasiveness, manipulativeness, and generally slippery nature, can be puzzling and annoying to Aquarius, who prefers everything out in the open and abhors any kind of control.

Clearly there are some major emotional differences between Aquarius and Pisces. Water sign Pisces is one of the most highly sensitive and deeply emotional signs in the Zodiac. In stark contrast, Air sign Aquarius is often disconnected from its emotions, its characteristic responses being governed largely by logic rather than gut feelings.

On the positive side, the objective Aquarian can help the Fish gain some useful distance from the emotional issues it takes so deeply to heart – although Pisces may not always appreciate this, complaining that Aquarius is too cold, too aloof and too unfeeling. Try as it might, Aquarius finds it all but impossible to understand the Piscean’s puzzling mood swings or why it is so easily hurt.

The main difficulty here is that what the Fish wants most is emotional warmth and closeness, but the independent Aquarian has no real need for such things in its life. At the end of the day, it could be that Pisces is looking for a level of emotional sharing and intimacy that Aquarius – probably the most emotionally detached of all the star signs – simply isn’t capable of delivering.

Sexually, Aquarius and Pisces aren't particularly well matched!

The Aquarian’s flirtatious nature and take-it-or-leave-it, perhaps rather superficial, approach to love can cause the insecure Fish a lot of heartache. On the other hand, to the self-contained Air sign, Water sign Pisces may seem far too needy, too emotionally demanding – and maybe just too much hard work. Because Pisces is highly impressionable and often a little gullible, it may set itself up for some big disappointments by taking an Aquarian’s witty love banter much too seriously.

For things to work sexually between these two, Pisces has to learn to wise up and toughen up, while Aquarius needs to switch on more to feelings.

When decisions need to be made or problems need solving, the big differences between Aquarius's logical approach and Pisces' intuitive and emotionally charged mindset really start to stand out. Pisces is great at coming up with lots of imaginative suggestions, but only Aquarius has the necessary mental detachment to be able to rationally analyze the pros and cons.

Although neither of these two wants to fall out with the other, communication breakdowns can easily occur when the Fish feels side-lined or put down by Aquarius's lofty arguments or Aquarius gets weary of what it sees as Pisces's child-like inability to differentiate between what is realistically feasible and what is just pie in the sky.

Striking a balance between Aquarius’s no-nonsense rationality on the one hand, and Pisces’ compassionate, feelings-oriented approach on the other hand is the fundamental challenge of this star sign pairing. Air sign Aquarius must understand there are situations in life which can’t be solved by logic alone and require more of a sensitive touch. The big-hearted Fish must realize it can only care for others effectively if it stays level-headed and calm.

Learning from each other, absorbing some of the other’s best qualities, and adapting to whichever approach is most appropriate in a particular situation, will turn Aquarius and Pisces into a highly effective duo.
